| Elegy For The Misinformed |

I’ve been confused, and waylaid, and misused And my own insecurity weighs heavy on me I’ve been mislead and mistaken for dead And my own perpetuity has taken its toll
I’ve looked inside and saw the moment and I tried To see things from your point of view And our sun has set but it ain’t over yet There’s a few things that I’ve left to do
Had times, they were lean, when the wounds went uncleaned And all my mind would carry were ways to an end And I’ve been unsure, on sinking days I’d demure At the thought that I would be here for 60 odd more years
I’ve seen men sweat for any wage they’d get While the bowlines at the Gold coast cast off And I’ve seen men drown when the martyr’s ship went down And the strong ones just swam for the shore
Played hearts to dissuade, sold my soul as men prayed And the turning of clocks has me soaked to the bone And I’ve wasted time, paid my way on their dime And now as little as I own, the more I feel I have
I’ve seen men die for any flag you’d fly It’s just a matter how the lines they get drawn I’ve seen men kill for the brevet and the thrill Thanks to faith in the absolutes of man
